Coaltrain is a 6-year-old black gelding standing 14.3 hands — built right, gentle-minded, and easy to get along with. He’s the kind you can saddle up and enjoy without a bunch of drama, but still young enough to keep shaping into anything you want him to be.
He’s spent most of his time being used around the ranch to gather cattle and check pastures, and he’s taken to every job with a calm, willing attitude. He’s surefooted and confident outside — crosses water, handles brush, and makes his way through rough country without a fuss. Coaltrain’s been around dogs, tractors, traffic, and all the usual ranch commotion, and he takes it all in stride.
He’s also been getting some time in the arena and learning new things every week. He’s got good basics — moves off your leg, follows his face, and stays soft in the bridle. He’s the kind that learns quick, tries hard, and doesn’t get worked up when you show him something new. We’ve been introducing him to obstacles and flags, and he’s handled everything like a gentleman.
He’s got a solid foundation, a great attitude, and plenty of talent to go in any direction you’d like. Whether you want to keep him as a reliable trail horse, keep building him into a ranch versatility or sorting mount, or just enjoy him for what he already is — he’s a good one to have around.
He’s easy to haul, bathe, and tie, and he’s always quiet to handle. Coaltrain’s the kind that fits a lot of riders — safe, steady, and uncomplicated, yet still with enough feel and try to keep things fun.
